03-P073 Regional differences in cell behaviors during foliation of the mouse cerebellum

چکیده
anism would thus be a new way to form a tube. As the generation of the lumen and of the tube itself requires the apparition of an apical domain, we decided to investigate how part of the lateral domain becomes apical. Our first results, using transgenes driven by brachyury regulating sequences, show that several proteins classically involved in antero-posterior and planar polarities could be involved in this process.

The Engrailed homeobox genes determine the different foliation patterns in the vermis and hemispheres of the mammalian cerebellum.
Little is known about the genetic pathways and cellular processes responsible for regional differences in cerebellum foliation, which interestingly are accompanied by regionally distinct afferent circuitry. We have identified the Engrailed (En) homeobox genes as being crucial to producing the distinct medial vermis and lateral hemisphere foliation patterns in mammalian cerebella. By producing a...
متن کاملThe level of sonic hedgehog signaling regulates the complexity of cerebellar foliation.
Foliation of the mouse cerebellum occurs primarily during the first 2 weeks after birth and is accompanied by tremendous proliferation of granule cell precursors (GCPs). We have previously shown that sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling correlates spatially and temporally with fissure formation, and that Gli2 is the main activator driving Shh induced proliferation of embryonic GCPs. Here, we have tes...
متن کاملRole of Oxidative Stress in Ethanol-induced Neurotoxicity in the Developing Cerebellum
Objective(s) The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of oxidative stress in Purkinje cell neurotoxicity ofethanol-treated rat. Materials and Methods Male rat pups 4-day-old was used in this study. Ethanol was administered to rat pups at a dose of 6 g/kg from postnatal days (PDs) 4 to 5. Pups were killed 90 min after the second alcohol treatment on PD 5 by decapitation and the ...
متن کاملAbnormal embryonic cerebellar development and patterning of postnatal foliation in two mouse Engrailed-2 mutants.
The cerebellum is an ideal system to study pattern formation in the central nervous system because of its simple cytoarchitecture and regular organization of folds and neural circuitry. Engrailed-2 (En-2) is expressed in a spatially restricted broad band around the mesencephalic-metencephalic junction, a region from which the cerebellum is derived. Mice homozygous for a targeted deletion of the...
متن کاملComparative morphology of the avian cerebellum: I. Degree of foliation.
Despite the conservative circuitry of the cerebellum, there is considerable variation in the shape of the cerebellum among vertebrates. One aspect of cerebellar morphology that is of particular interest is the degree of folding, or foliation, of the cerebellum and its functional significance. Here, we present the first comprehensive analysis of variation in cerebellar foliation in birds with th...
